3-minute colorfast test to prevent fabric bleeding
Colorfast Test Instructions
Follow these steps to safely test if your fabric will bleed color
3 minutes total
Prevents laundry disasters
You'll need:
- Small fabric swatch from the questionable garment
- White cotton cloth or paper towel
- Bowl of lukewarm water
- Good lighting to observe color changes
Test process:
1. Prepare the test
Cut a small swatch from a hidden area of the garment (inside seam or hem)
2. Submerge in water
Place the swatch in lukewarm water with a white test cloth
3. Wait 3 minutes
Observe for any color bleeding into the water or white cloth
4. Evaluate results
Check if the water changed color or the white cloth picked up dye
⚠️ Important:
This test may cause slight fading on the test swatch, but it's better to sacrifice a small piece than ruin an entire load of laundry!
